A delegation from the Turkish Ministry of Economy, representatives from several major U.S. corporations and officials from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce met in Washington on March 11 for the Seminar on The Investment Climate in Turkey and the New Investment Incentive Program coordinated by the Ministry of Economy.
A delegation from the Turkish Ministry of Economy, representatives from several major U.S. corporations and officials from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce met in Washington on March 11 for the Seminar on The Investment Climate in Turkey and the New Investment Incentive Program coordinated by the Ministry of Economy.
The delegation from the Turkish Ministry of Economy was led by the Deputy Director General of the Directorate of Incentives & Foreign Direct Investments, Mr. Murat Alici, accompanied by Mr. Hasan Aslan Akpinar and Mr. Muammer Onur Kaya, specialists on the new incentives designed to attract foreign investments into Turkey.
Hosts for the seminar, Mr. Khush Choksy, Acting Head for Turkey, Middle East & North Africa Affairs of the US Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Abdullah Koten, Senior Commercial Counselor of the Embassy of Turkey, and Ambassador James Holmes, the President and CEO of the ATC, expressed their optimism for the future of US-Turkey relations and the rapidly expanding opportunities for trade and investment between the two countries.
The delegation from the Ministry of Economy opened with illustration of the unprecedented growth of the Turkish economy in the past few years, and projections for continued growth for years to come. In short, Turkey is on the brink of becoming an economic world leader. Seminar participants then heard from US companies, which have already invested heavily in Turkey. Representatives from Ford, GE and The Dow Chemical Company shared stories about how their companies found success in the budding Turkish market. At the conclusion of the seminar, the floor was opened for Q&A and networking.
