
John Kelly
John Kelly is Vice President of Business Development & Strategic Planning of BAE Systems. Based in Arlington, Va., he is responsible for oversight of all business winning activity for the sector including activities within the BAE Systems home markets. John leads a team that focuses on global market strategy, business development, competitive intelligence, and capture. In addition, he is responsible for all Strategic Business planning activities within the Platforms & Services business. He has worked for BAE Systems and its predecessor companies for 33 years in a range of roles across L&A, Group Business Development and the Defense Systems Business. Most recently, he was head of the L&A International Operations and Export function. Prior to this, he ran the UK Land Systems Business Development office in Washington, D.C., and served as the capture manager for the M777 lightweight towed howitzer contract for the U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps. John has experience with a wide-ranging customer base from the U.S. Department of Defense to civilian and military organizations throughout Europe, NATO, the Middle East, and parts of South America. A business development professional since 1999, John previously held roles in project management, mechanical engineering and logistics management. He holds a higher national diploma in mechanical and industrial engineering and a post graduate diploma in human resource management from the University of Portsmouth in the U.K. John is married with two sons and lives in Oakton, Va.
