ATC Leadership is Briefed by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ertugrul Apakan met on December 10 with ATC’s President, Board and Golden Horn members.
Undersecretary Apakan briefed the group about the foreign policy issues and discussions with US Government officials within the framework of the Shared Vision and Structured Dialogue agreement. He spoke also of the global issues on their common agenda: climate change, water management, food crises and the environment. He expressed disappointment for the quality of the Turkey-EU partnership in the field of energy, but noted that Turkey enjoyed a good relationship with US in the energy sector. Turkey, he stressed, is firmly committed to its western orientation, to a strong partnership with NATO and the US. Those who claim that Turkey is reorienting its foreign and security policy interests toward Russia and/or the Middle East, he said are simply wrong.
Ambassador Apakan spoke at length about the dangers to the bilateral relationship posed by a resurrected Armenian Resolution. All agreed to work on this matter.
On behalf of the Government of Turkey, Ambassador Apakan expressed appreciation for the continued cooperation and support of the ATC and its membership.
