On November 6, 2008, The American-Turkish Council held a dinner in honor of Ambassador-Designate to Turkey James Jeffrey at Bobby Van’s restaurant in Washington, D.C.

Ambassador James Holmes welcomed the attendees, who included Ambassador Sensoy of Turkey, Ambassador Akil representing the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, representatives from the State and Defense Departments as well as the National Security Council, and many members and guests of the ATC. Ambassador Jeffrey, after a warm introduction by ATC Chairman Brent Scowcroft, addressed the attendees, stressing the need to accelerate trade relations between the U.S. and Turkey and pledging to work closely with the ATC to enhance all aspects of the important friendship.
